What
is henna? Henna paste is made from crushed henna leaves which contain natural
red dye.
What else is in the paste? Lemon juice, sugar and pure essential oil.
Does
it hurt to have it applied? No. The paste is applied with a paper cone and feels cool on the skin.
Where should I put my design? Hands, feet, wrists,
ankles, and lower legs are best for darker stains.
How long does it take? 5-10 minutes to apply a small design; large designs can require several hours. Leave the paste
on 4-8 hours for best results.
How long does it last? 5-14 days if you follow the care instructions I give you. Designs will fade more quickly on
arms, chest, and back. Henna is not permanent.
What color will
it be? Light orange when the paste comes off. The design darkens
to a reddish-brown over the next 24-48 hours.
Do you
have black henna? No. Most "black henna"
contains PPD, a toxic chemical that can severly blister the skin and has been linked to kidney and liver damage. Even
one application can result in a lifetime of health problems.
BE SAFE -- if it's
black, it's NOT pure henna!
